  • Covid-19 safety guidelines at The WoodRooms

Following government guidance The WoodRooms will remain open. To provide the safest possible working environment for our staff and clients, we will provide the following:

    • Hand santitiser stations at the entrance to each room, including the main entrance of the studio.
    • Covid questionnaires to be completed by all clients 24 hours before studio booking.
    • NHS App Check In at entry.
    • Disposable gloves provided at the main entrance to the studio.
    • Soap and paper towels available in the kitchen and bathroom.
    • Signage/markings to indicate priority "traffic" through doorways and in areas where the required 2m distancing can be difficult.
    • Signage indicating the number of people allowed in the various spaces at any one time.
    • All studio staff will wear mask and gloves when in the same room as clients.
    • When clients arrive, a short introduction to our COVID-19 safety measures and working practices will be given.
    • If a member of staff is unwell we may need to cancel the session and re-arrange for another time.
    • The studio spaces, surfaces and equipment will be regularly cleaned with appropriate products.
    • The need to keep instruments and equipment clean may add a little time to sessions. Please bear with us.

In addition to the safety provisions we are taking, we ask that all clients adhere to the following:

    • If you feel unwell on the day of your booking, do not attend the studio. We will -rearrange your booking at no extra cost.
    • If you have experienced any symptoms of Coronavirus in the two weeks prior to your booking, please do not attend.
    • Please maintain a 2m distance from staff at all times.
    • We would ask that clients wear a facemask at all appropriate times and that you bring your own mask with you.
    • Please use the hand sanitiser, wash stations and gloves provided to keep your hands clean at all times.
    • Please bring your own beverages (hot or cold), pre-packaged food and cutlery to limit the use of the kitchen area as much as possible.
    • We ask that people attending the studio are absolutely necessary to the session, for the safety of staff and clients alike.
    • Please adhere to the priority "traffic" signage at doorways and in areas where maintaining 2m distance may be difficult.
    • Please dispose of all rubbish (including sanitary waste such as gloves and paper towels) in the appropriate waste bins.

    FAQs

Some helpful information about our studio

    How do I get there?

We’re just off the A580 and very close to junctions for the M60, M61 and M62.

You can search for us on Google Maps which will often work better than inputting our postcode.

Assuming you’ve made a booking with us you will have our phone numbers, so please feel free to call and we can direct you.

We’re about 20 minutes drive from Manchester City Centre and about half an hour on the train from Manchester Victoria.

There is a train station (Moorside) less than 5 minutes walk from the studio and plenty of bus links into Manchester City Centre and out towards the Bolton and Leigh direction.

What will I need to bring?

You can see a list of the instruments/equipment we have available here. You’re welcome to use anything that we have in the studio at the time.

Feel free to get in touch and ask about anything you don’t see on the list as we will almost certainly know somewhere to hire or acquire any instrument or piece of equipment from.

If you need stems, multitracks or backing tracks for your session it’s always useful to send us these in advance so we can check everything is right and things like tempo tracks and MIDI information all import correctly.

It’s also a good idea to bring a backup of these on a memory stick or hard drive.

If you have a laptop with the project(s) on, this can often be really useful in a session to re-export things on the fly.

    Where can I eat?

The kitchen at the recording studio has a fridge, microwave, a kettle and a coffee machine…so pretty basic but well stocked on tea, coffee and biscuits.

There is a small supermarket, a couple of decent independent cafés and some basic takeaways all within walking distance.

A little further down the road in Swinton town centre there are some really great independent restaurants and takeaways.

And if these don’t provide the right food, there are plenty of independent takeaways that will deliver to us from the surrounding area.

We keep a good stock of menus on-site to cover most tastes and dietary requirements.

What hours am I able to use the studio?

Our standard days in the recording studio are 8 hours long and we’re happy to start at whatever time suits you.

Sessions going late into the night are common and as we know from years in the industry, can be some of the most creative, productive and enjoyable!

Is there anywhere to stay locally?

There is an independent hotel just over a mile from the studio (https://hellohotels.co.uk) and plenty of Airbnb’s locally.

If a hotel or Airbnb isn’t in your budget, let us know and we might be able to help find some affordable accommodation within the friendly local music scene.
